Rambling and updates...

Well, it’s Thursday, I have no ambition to work this afternoon, and someone hinted that she wanted more stories to read on blogs, so here I am writing :)

Life here has been uneventful.  Busy, but uneventful.  It has been way to warm for February, and we just had 3 days of rain.  *sigh*  I’ve gotten out skiing once between being sick for half of December and January, and now we’re getting rain.  I think Mother Nature doesn’t like me :-/  The rest of the time has been filled with work, rehearsals, meetings, more meetings, more rehearsals, and taking care of the house.  Oh, and the obligatory trip to Troy for the annual Sousaphone pilgrimage… otherwise known as Freakout :-)

So lets see here, work…  it’s been busy.  The country seems to be going into a recession, so my company is expanding, going to a 7 day work week, and buying new equipment.  Good to know we’re following what the rest of the country is doing  ./sarcasm.  January started off slow, as most of the machines still weren’t running from shutdown, but now that everything is up and going, my to-do list gets longer every day.

Rehearsals…  It’s February, which means my 3-nights-a-week of rehearsals is starting to get to me, and will until June, when 2 of then stop.  Now, add onto that we have a show in April and contest, which means longer, more intense rehersals… and you have one drained me.  But they’re fun, so I put myself through it :-)  I’m sure I will cut back on them at some point, just not yet.  What I really need to cut back on is…

Meetings.  Ugh, this is where I torture myself.  I somehow thought it would be a good idea to let myself be volunteered for Volunteer coordinator for the convention were co-hosting.  As an afterthought, I don’t really need something else on my plate, but it’s for the good of the chorus, and it’s over in 8 weeks.  But who’s counting ;-)

The house is doing well, considering.  We have new curtains for the bedroom, full bath, and kitchen.  Which of course means I need to paint windows… :-/ Well, I hung the kitchen ones up already, without painting.  The whole kitchen needs a coat of paint, so I’ll pull them down when I get to that point.  The basement is in the same condition it has been for a month now, although C and Dad are supposed to start putting up walls soon :-)  Yay! Of course, I need to pick out paint colors then :-)  I’m thinking tan, with brown and red accents… but C says that would be too much like the bathroom… we’ll see.

Hmm… I’m rambling again… and it all sounds so depressing.  It’s not! Really!  Just busy.  I’m just at the point where I want to go home and stay home.  Which I’ll get to do tonight :-)  Going away for the weekend throws your schedule off, but the trip was fun, and I got to play “my” sousaphone :-)

I guess I should get back to the data entry that’s sitting in front of me… *sigh*  Is it Friday yet?

What winter?

There is something decidedly wrong with the fact that today has a high of 64 degrees. It’s JANUARY! Where’s my snow!  I want to do more skiing still!

*sigh* I need to move farther north.

Christmas!

Christmas is here!

We spent the morning at the house, opening out own presents, and playing with the toys :-) After that, we went over to C's family breakfast for a few hours, followed by a visit to my family for dinner and more presents.

Highlights from the day.

* C got his camera :-)
* The hardest present to come by this year - and we got 2 of them. C got me a Wii - and my parents got us one as well. Since the one from my parents was to both of us, they couldn't tell C - so we'll exchange it and get something else with the money :-) It's amusing that this is the present that people were waiting out in snowstorms to get, and we managed to get 2!
* Dunkins was closed on Christmas - but since it's right across the street from his Aunts, we parked there to keep the street open. We spent the next two hours at his Aunts watching people pull into the drive-thru or parking lot, and try to order/get in the building. There was a sign on the door saying it was closed, yet people would keep pulling the handle "just in case"

I feel like I should be productive, since C and Dad are downstairs starting on the basement. But right now I just want to be lazy :)

Chrismas pictures will be up once I pull them off the mulitple cameras :-)

I now work...

next to a coffee pot.  Or so it seems.

The air in the office gets very dry in the winter – resulting in being shocked by everything you touch.  They finally installed a humidification system to take care of this problem.  They put a couple of vents round the office, and it was supposed to be fixed.  Well, one of the vents is in the cubicle next to mine, which is used as a small printing room.  The humidifier has been gurgling all day – just like a coffee pot.  You can see the steam billowing out of it.  And, since they put the vents up near the ceiling, the moisture is condensing, and we’re having localized rain showers in the building. (We don’t have a true ceiling, we have the open support beams/air ducts/sheetmetal roof look)  Good job “fixing” the issue.  I think I’d rather stick with the shock treatment.

Dear God-of-colds...

I’m tired of being sick now. I’ve been feeling bad since last Friday. I’ve now had to miss singing 5 times, and will most likely miss tonight’s as well. I’ve had a sore throat, and now added a stuffy head on top of that. While it isn’t too bad – I’m generally miserable, and I’m tired of it. Even my boss said today that I don’t look like I’m doing better. (although I can probably use that as a reason to go home early)

What do I need to do to have you take this away from me? It’s the Christmas season, I’m supposed to be decorating the house, singing Christmas carols, and buying presents for loved ones. I would like to be in the Christmas spirit to do this, but you’re making it hard.

Respectfully Sick,

~Raeme

You know the day's too long when...

You need to use your calculator to do 200 x 1.

My weeks over.  Now to find look-busy work until it’s actually time to leave

Computers...

So Dad sent me this yesterday http://h20435.www2.hp.com/# .   It's the Blackbird002 series.  Since he knows we're into gaming, he said it would be a nice computer for it – for the very low price of $2700 (for the low end model – click on the customize link to see the full range of prices).   Now, Dad can get us a discount on it, but it still doesn't bring the price below $2000 :-( .  I guess we'll have to keep dreaming.  And of course, Charlie wants the liquid cooled one...

It snowed here!!  Yay!  We got about 5 inches or so at the house.   Since we live on a street with one of the elementary schools on it, even though school was canceled, they were plowing while I was out shoveling.  Sadly, I think that was the only time they came by – as our street is now a big sheet of frozen slush.   I need to get out and take pictures.

And someone stayed up to late last night raiding, and is now paying for it…  I think I'll need to go find some caffeine soon.
